Upgrading LoanVision 2.0 to LoanVision 3.0
Last Modified: 12-06-2004 22:01 by robbrandt

LoanVision 3.0 has built in functions for upgrading an older version (pre 3.0). Please note the following:
  • Prior to v 3.0, the name of the data file that contains loan data is named "loanvisi.df1" In v 3.0, it is named "LoanVision.df1"
  • The setup data in all versions is called "setup.df1"
  • Prior to v 3.0, the normal location for LoanVision on your hard disk is:
    • (For Windows) "C:\loanvision"
    • (For Mac) "Macintosh HD:LoanVision for Mac 2.0 Folder"
  • As of v3.0, the normal location for LoanVision on your hard disk is:
    • (For Windows) "C:\Program Files\LoanVision3"
    • (For Macintosh)"Macintosh HD:LoanVision 3 for Mac Folder"
  • Once converted to version 3.0, you will not be able to open the data in version 2 or earlier. For this reason, you should convert a copy of your old data and leave the original.
  • There have been some users who experience a data file error during conversion. It is easy to correct by following the procedure here.

Getting LoanVision 3 to convert your old data is easy. Essentially, all you need to do is copy your old data files to the new LoanVision 3 folder, rename the data file and start LoanVision 3, answering all the confirmations as "Yes"Here's a step by step procedure, if you need it:

  1. Find your old LoanVision data (see the notes above). If it is not located in the places indicated above, search your computer for 'loanvisi.df1'. It the search locates more than one file, check the date and size of the file. The largest/most recent file is likely the one with your current data in it.
  2. Make a copy of loanvisi.df1. On Windows, right click on the file and click on Copy. On Macs, click on the File menu and select Duplicate, then drag the 'loanvisi.df1 copy' file to the Desktop.
  3. Find your LoanVision 3 folder (see notes above).
  4. Place the copy in the LoanVision 3 folder. On Windows, click once on empty space in the folder, click on the Edit menu and select paste. On Macintosh, drag the 'loanvisi.df1 copy' file from the Desktop to the LoanVision 3 folder.
  5. Rename the file as 'LoanVision.df1'.
  6. Repeat the above for the file 'setup.df1', except the name should end up named as 'setup.df1'.
  7. Start LoanVision 3. The conversion will start automatically. Answer Yes to all questions.
