I can't remember my password. What do I do?
This web site has a built in system for handling your password. If you forget it, click on the "Your Account" option under the Main Menu then click on "Retrieve Lost Password" (or just click here). Enter your user name and click on the "Send" button. The system will then send an email message to your registered email account with a confirmation code. When you get the email, come back to the same window above, enter your username and the confirmation code, and click on the "Send Password" button. A new password will then be sent to your registered email address. When you receive it, you should be able to login with your regular user name and new password.
It is strongly recommended that as soon as you log in successfully, to click on "Your Account" then the "Change Your Info" icon, and change your password to something you can easily remember at the bottom of the page.
When I try to print in LoanVision for Windows, I get a Fatal Exception crash. What do I do?
This seems to be happening with some printers or print servers in LoanVision 2.0. It has to do with the automated printer settings. There are two ways of solving it:
First, if it's something that happens only occasionally, you can delete the settings database and start fresh. To do this, click on the Windows Start button and select "Find" or "Search", and then "Files or Folders". Enter "loanvis.ini" (without the quotes) in the "Named" field, make sure the Look In field includes the C: drive, and that the "Include subfolders" box is checked. Click on Find Now. One file should appear. Delete it by dragging it to your recycling bin or by right-clicking on it and selecting "Delete". Restart Windows. When it is restarted, you should be able to go directly into LoanVision and print successfully. You'll have to do your page setups again as you print the first time, so remember to set them according to the prompts.
Second, if it's a frequent problem, you can just disable the automated printer setups. To do this, click on the File Menu and select Setup. In the Setup Control Panel, click on WorkStations. In Setup WorkStation, select your workstation from the list (often "WorkStation 1"), click on the Change button, and check the box labelled "Do you want to be prompted for printer options?", then click on the Save button. Close and exit Setup. When you print, you will now have to tell LoanVision what page size and orientation to use everytime you print, but it will not crash.
What is the current version of LoanVision?
Both the Windows and Mac versions are at v2.00. It began shipping February 2001.
When's the next version scheduled?
Version 2.01 will be released very soon, hopefully by the end of 2001. It is currently in beta testing and fixes a few bugs. Version 2.10 will follow shortly thereafter and will enable the LoanProspector interface. Both of the above will be free downloads to licensees of LoanVision v.2.00.
What is the current version of Property Manager?
Business Edge Property Manager is currently on version 3.5, which began shipping in November 1999. Unoffically, there is a beta version of v3.5.1 available that was necessary for only certain users.
When is the next version of Property Manager going to be released?
The next version of Property Manager will focus on proving a version for Windows; some things will need to be changed inthe Mac version as well, but it does not include any new major features. Release date is unknown but is of a high priority.
What is the current version of Real Estate Edge?
The current version of Real Estate Edge is v3.5. It began shipping in November of 1999.
When is the next version of Real Estate Edge going to be released?
The next version of Real Estate Edge will focus on providing a Windows version, but there is not release date set yet. It will be released close to the time that the Windows version of Property Manager will be released.
What is the current version of ProAnalysis?
ProAnalysis is currently at version 2.01 and became available earlier this year. There is really no difference between it and v2.00, available since 1993, except that all references to "Transoft" were changed to Business Edge. No functional changes at all.
When will the next version of ProAnalysis be released?
Unknown. We would like to do a new version of ProAnalysis and see lots of room for new features and a Windows version, but it is not scheduled at this time.
What is the current version of the Real Estate Contracts Handbook Software?
Current version is still 1.00.
When will the next version of the Contracts Handbook Software be released?
Not likely, but possible if the book itself is re-written.
This really depends on whether you are doing cash or accrual accounting. If you are doing accrual accounting: Essentially you will be reversing the rental income previously charged, so create a new General Transaction and debit the Rental Income account the amount unpaid, and credit the A/R account the same amount. If you are doing cash accounting: Rent charges in cash accounting aren't really 'charges' in an accounting sense; they are just memos to yourself and your tenant that they owe you money. Your books aren't effected until money is actually received, so technically there is nothing to reverse. There is, of course, a charge that is effecting your accounts receivable report. There are two easy ways of dealing with it: Delete the uncollected charge, or create a new charge and enter the balance as a negative number. If you are doing cash accounting, check with your accountant as to whether you can deduct this as an expense; I don't think you can.
I need to retrieve my password because I forgot it. How do I do that?
There are a few steps to do this:
1) Click on the Your Account option under the Main Menu, on the left side of this page;
2) Choose the option for Retrieve Lost Password;
3) Enter your username, and click on the Send Password button (don't worry about the confirmation code field; you'll fill that out in another step);
4) Our web site will send you an email with a confirmation code. Check your email and note the code.
5) Go back to the Retrieve Lost Password screen and enter your username AND the confirmation code we emailed you. Click on the Send Password button.
6) Our web site will send you an email with your password. Note the password (and save it somewhere where you can find it next time) and return to the Login Screen and enter your username and password; you should be able to login now.
Again, please save your password somewhere where you can find it. If you come back to our site within a couple of weeks, it should still remember who you are, but much longer than that (or if you access it from another computer) you'll need it again. If you want to change your password to something you can easily remember you can change it easilyonce you are logged in by clicking on Your Account and then selecting Change your Info. The password change fields are at the bottom of that page.
What does Retrieve Lost Password do?
Retrieve Lost Password is a system that will help you remember your password to this web site if you forget it. See detailed instructions here.
How do I open the Real Estate Contracts and in what program to I open it in?
Real Estate Contracts Handbook is a FileMaker based application, and all required components (including a FileMaker runtime) should be installed automatically from the disk. If you have already run the installer and are not able to get the application running, there must a be a problem for which we will need specific information from you. Please use the Help Desk option on the Main Menu.
Yes, LoanVision comes with lots of forms, such as the loan application (1003), Transmittal Sumamry (1008), verifications, Good Faith Estimate, RegZ, and other disclosures. In fact, printing the forms is one of the main purposes of the program.
Is this program for commercial units also, and does it handle state sales tax.
Yes, we have many users who manage retail, commercial, office, manufactering and even mini warehouses with Property Manager. It can handle multiple CAM charges on every unit. Yes, you can charge and receipt to a sales tax account.
Do you have a real estate program for Windows?
At the moment only LoanVision and the Real Estate Contracts Handbook are available for Windows-based computers. We are actively working on Windows versions of Property Manager and Real Estate Edge. A Windows version of ProAnalysis is a "someday" project.
How do I transfer file from one desktop to another, or from desk top to laptop?
LoanVision "files" are all stored in a single database, so transfering data is done simply by selecting the loans you want to transfer, then telling LoanVision which database you want to transfer them in to.
Here are step by step instructions for three different situations:
You want to transfer a file from the computer you are sitting at to another computer on your office network;
You want to transfer a file to the computer you are sitting at from another computer on your office network;
You want to transfer a file to the computer you are sitting at from another computer somewhere else that is not networked; such as from a laptop at home to your computer at the office:
This is basically the same, except you are combining the two methods above and using a 'carrier' database to temporarily store the files.
How do I merge my credit report information into LoanVision? My credit company is Choice Data.
LoanVision currently can order and merge credit reports with any credit software that supports the MBA-86 data format. Assuming your company DOES support MBA-86, the best thing to do would be to have your credit company call us so that we can make a configuration file so that you can easily tell LoanVision how to handle Choice Data's software. Once it's configured, how ordering and merging a credit report is done depends a great deal on the software that the credit reporting agency uses. Sometimes it allows LoanVision to automatically do everything, sometimes not. Under the worst circumstances, you'll have to manually name a credit report order file and save it, and you'll have to manually find the resulting credit report data and import it back in to LoanVision. Under the best circumstances, the credit reporting software allows LoanVision to automatically name and save the file, order the report, receive the result, and import the results. It all depends on the credit software. We do want to work with as many credit reporting companies as possible, however, so please have them call us and we'll get it set up as automatically as possible.
Hopefully by the end of 2002.
How do you reset ID in Transactions.
Transaction IDs are an internal reference number only, they are intended to have no accounting or financial significance. Being able to change them could cause significant problems, as we could no longer guarantee that they are each unique. Since there's no compelling reason the change them, and changing them could cause problems, it is not allowed.
Can I install real estate edge 3.0 on to powerbook g4
That has not been tested, but you're welcome to try. Version 3.0 is now around 7 years old. Make sure you make backups of your data frequently, since there are some potential problems with that version and OS9/OSX. There may be no problems at all though, and it may work just fine. But backups are your insurance.
Use a seperate loan application just like you would in real life. If you give each loan application in the transaction the same loan number the income and payments will be combined on the 1008 and appropriate fees (such as credit reports) increased on the disclosures.
